Happy New Year

18 Years Ago, starring TV’s Wil Johnson, dir: Theo Bahannack

I can’t believe it’s 2012 already. 2011 seems to have just shot past. It was a year where I actually attended 5 weddings – of people I actually know! Also, even more alarmingly, people I actually know – that’s people I am friends with and speak to in real life – have been having babies, or announcing that at some point in the near future they are about to have babies. These people are even of a similar age to me. And I know them. In real life. There are more weddings and babies lined up for this year as well. Not for my wife and I though: we’re going to go on a holiday instead.

During 2011 I got to work with some great actors and crews. I starred in my own TV sitcom, joined the Actors Centre and performed Shakespeare for the first time. I had the pleasure of seeing two good friends of mine appear in main roles in the West End (my Burgess co-star Richard Holt in Swallows and Amazons, and my Rules co-star Jenny Gayner in Chicago). I’ve also re-established family relationships, which included another fantastic trip to the US, and started running and eating more healthily.

2012 has already started off with some big personal changes. My wife, Vicky, started a new job a few months ago, and I myself start a new acoustic consultancy ‘day’ job tomorrow (as I write this), having just left the company I’ve worked at for the last 10 years. I also have a new phone (yes, an iPhone) and am finally out of the clutches of the incompetant f**kwits at the Crapphone S**thouse. (I can’t remember if I actually posted about the issues I’d had, or if I just ranted in person to anyone who was in earshot at the time…)

Another first for 2012 is that I am currently working on 3 screenplays – 2 shorts and a feature. (Obviously I’ll be starring in all 3.) More details to follow as and when. I will also possibly be releasing some music this year too – the first time since… 2009? God, I can’t even remember. I’ve just recently filmed a scene in an upcoming feature starring TV’s Wil Johnson, and will be working with award winning director Adam Rowley on another. On top of that, I’m very happy to be working with Luke Kaile again in his new comedy play/sketch show for Muzzle the Pig, which we’ll be rehearsing shortly.

All in all I feel positive for the year ahead, and I wish you all the very best over the coming year too. I hope to make more effort to keep in touch with friends and colleagues, old and new, and I hope that you will keep me updated of your own successes.

Happy New Year! And F**k the Carphone Warehouse!
