I used to sing and play guitar in Goodbye Sergeants from 2005 to 2010 with Jon Shortt on drums who now plays with me in RKMAMs. The original line up was with Jon Shortt, Matt Haynes and Julian Trill. I wore a lot of hats back then.

We released various things ourselves, and took advantage of the then-new Myspace to collect fans all over the world. Hard to believe now, but being able to stream your music on Myspace from anywhere in the world and email out MP3s was an exciting new development. A lot of us were still listening to CDs and the iPod was still quite a new thing.

Matt Haynes quit in 2008, then my friend (and Pistol Gang bandmate) Matt Jarman joined, bringing extra songwriting and production skills to our newer releases.

Sadly the band fizzled out after a gig in 2010, but in 2017 I released a compilation pulling together a load of previously available and rare/unreleased stuff from the band to coincide with the 10 year anniversary of our first “proper” single, “Boy Band Kind of Way”.

The full compilation album is on Spotify and Bandcamp
