No Mr Blobby this time, but I did manage to uncover the preserved corpses of Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker on Channel 4’s The Last Leg on Friday. You can of course watch it on catchup and if you do so, I’m right at the very end at around 46:37!
Hi guys! This month two audiobooks came out that I narrated. Let’s start with the “satire”… this topical satire book was great fun to read and is definitely worth checking even for the last incredible chapter alone. Here’s the pitch:
There was once a fashionable theory that history was determined not by individuals but by economic and geopolitical forces. Recent years have proved that idea abundantly wrong. From Nigel Farage to Donald Trump via (inevitably) Vladimir Putin, we have largely been governed, endangered and thrown into confusion by a pack of angry men. (Nearly always men. Nearly always white). Men whose ambition is inversely proportional to their ability – and stability. Post-truth, mid-Brexit and with Nationalism on the rise, we stand on the precipice of an uncertain future, and Enemies of the People details those who have stuffed us on the bus and driven us there. Not all are monsters, but whether through malice, bad driving or accidentally taking a wrong turn, these are the culprits responsible for landing us on this dizzying and windswept cliff edge.
Remember, though – they say history is written by the victors, and fortunately many of those currently winning can’t seem to write more than 140 characters at a time. This gives us the golden opportunity to set the record straight and snatch back the narrative. But if we’ve any chance of victory, we first need to know our enemy.

And now the “sex”… I enjoyed this thriller in a very different way to Enemies of the People. There’s… you know… sex in it. I play Craig in this multi-narrator book that really does move along quite nicely!
Two couples. A doctor’s surgery. A deadly obsession. Who’s telling the truth?
‘Who else would you go for, if you could? Give me a name, someone you quite like.’
He shrugs his shoulders. A jawline held tight.
‘I quite like Jenni. What about you?’
I don’t reply.
Carly and Rob, Jenni and Craig. Two couples, four friends. Betraying each other. Wanting each other.
All of them have access to prescription drugs through the medical practice where they work, and all of them are fighting their own demons.
But can any of them be trusted? And when the lies begin, can they ever be silenced?

All available on Audible! Don’t forget to leave a good review!
So… that famous international footballer’s autobiography I narrated… it’s out now on Audible! Please feel free to leave a thoroughly justified excellent review after listening to me talk for 8 and a hours…
Here’s the blurb:
Mesut Ozil is a midfield magician, casting an elegant spell over opponents and conjuring passes through gaps lesser mortals can’t even see. After an eventful sojourn among the Galacticos of Real Madrid, he has savoured silverware at Arsenal, while in 2014 he lifted the World Cup with Germany.
But his life and career have been a test of resilience. Growing up in Germany’s Turkish community, he faced prejudice from those who claimed his dual identity would prevent him giving his all for the national team. Later came questions over a different type of commitment, the kind levelled against those, like Mesut Ozil, who excel in football’s finer arts rather than relying simply on running and ruggedness. He has proved concerns on both these issues lack substance.
In Gunning for Greatness, Mesut Ozil reveals the inside stories of his relationships with Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger, his quest to help the under-fire Frenchman restore Arsenal’s preeminence – and how he silenced the sceptics by conquering the world.

These have actually been available for a few weeks I think but this episode of new Comedy Central show “Bad Snappers” has just gone up on YouTube – I’m in it as the vicar. It was great fun actually and I’m very grateful to Georgie and Danni for getting me involved. It’s only a minute long so you might as well check it out for god’s sake!
Last Friday I got the opportunity to work with comedy legend Mr Blobby. Definitely a career highlight – the man had a Christmas Number One and his own theme park! It was a sketch for The Last Leg on Channel 4. He did actually whack my head on the floor quite hard but he did apologise. You can check it out after about 22:58 on 4od.
You know, it’s actually been rather a long time since I had what could be described as a “tiny” bald patch. Nevertheless I really enjoyed performing this short story at Liars’ League on Tuesday night. It was a great crowd too! Enjoy!
Hi guys. Do you want to listen to me talking for 8.5 hours? Well now you can. “The Explorer” by James Smythe, narrated by me and published by Harper Collins, is now available on Audible. Want to know more about it? Of course…
A tense, claustrophobic and gripping science fiction thriller from the author of The Testimony. When journalist Cormac Easton is selected to document the first manned mission into deep space, he dreams of securing his place in history as one of humanity’s great explorers. But in space, nothing goes according to plan. The crew wake from hypersleep to discover their captain dead in his allegedly fail-proof safety pod. They mourn, and Cormac sends a beautifully written eulogy back to Earth. The word from ground control is unequivocal: no matter what happens, the mission must continue. But as the body count begins to rise, Cormac finds himself alone and spiralling towards his own inevitable death…unless he can do something to stop it. ©2013 James Smythe (P)2017 HarperCollins Publishers.
Happy New Year! Merry Xmas! Etc. I know there’s been a lot of negativity directed at 2016 for many a legitimate reason but I have to say, personally my 2016 was pretty good. If only it would go as well for dear old “Rich Keeble” from the Vanity Project. I would love you to check out our Christmas special and see the party he’s thrown! It looks like he’s happy? Is he? Surely not…
I have to say I’m very proud of this episode in particular. Edd hired a lot more gear (fancier cameras, lenses, lights etc) and Sam did a great job on the edit, spending a lot of time on the sound mix and colour grade. I think the story worked out nicely as well with great help from our skilled cast (including the acting debut of my daughter – who incidentally is one of the positive things that happened for me in 2016. Bleurgh…)
So you may remember that Animal Antics show that I posted about back in April, well it appears be on Polish TV at the moment as my Polish mother-in-law spotted me. It’s on a channel called Viasat Nature and I think is going out in other Eastern European countries. Anyway, I’ve made it briefly into the trailer above!

Woah check this out guys – on Saturday we won Best UK Series at the UK Web Fest! Not bad eh? “Award winning web series”… I like the sound of that.

So I know you much prefer it when you can hear my voice but not see my face, so here’s the #RecycleWeek #UnusualSuspects videos that came out this week. I’m doing the voice of the detective on the phone, and the main VOs at the end. They’ve got Ewen McIntosh (Keith from The Office) in them. Watch all 4 episodes right here!
So yesterday they announced the Raindance Webfest 2016 programme. Now we knew that Rich Keeble Vanity Project had been selected, and would be screened at the festival which was all very exciting – we’d been told to keep it quiet until the official announcement of course. My previous series All in the Method had been an official selection back in 2013, and the whole experience was rather nice, seeing it up there on the big screen, chatting to some lovely people. What we didn’t realise was that we’d been nominated for Best UK Web series with only 4 other shows! Wow! And the other shows look like they had a budget! Jeez! So that’s us rather smugly enjoying a free drink at the festival launch party at JuJu in Chelsea last night. What we then found out… after Edd was casually looking at the programme on his phone, was that we’ve also been nominated for BEST WRITING! Un-be-fucking-lievable! I’d actually be very surprised if we won either category, but we’re genuinely over the moon to be nominated, and it’s certainly gonna be a fun festival. You can hear Johnny McDaid from Snow Patrol saying our (my) name at about 10:44 in this video.
Back in March I did some voice work for the new Total War: Warhammer video game. The game came out in May but the voices I did were for the Beastmen DLC (downloadable content as I learned) which came out on July 28th. The reason I’m only posting this now is that A) I signed an NDA, and B) I got a bit behind with posting stuff because of the baby (see last post!). Funnily enough I was due to work on another big video game on that very release date (July 28th), but my girlfriend went into labour 2 weeks before the due date so we had to reschedule! Oh well. I’ll tell you more about that game when that’s all out there!
In the meantime, that’s the Beastmen trailer right there. To be honest, I have no idea if any of my voice is in there (apart from the obvious, it is pitched down), and I’ll probably to struggle to identify myself in any uploaded gameplayso if anyone does find any gameplay on Youtube, pitches up a Beastman voice and thinks it’s me, do let me know!

hi guys. So we had a baby. Thanks for everyone’s messages and kind words so far. If you weren’t aware, partly due to a decision not to put photos of our daughter on the internet (as we don’t know whether these babies born in the internet age will be annoyed with us in years to come etc, as well as her own safety) but largely to amuse myself, I’ve been only posting photos of her where I’ve deliberately obscured her face. Hilarious huh?
So here’s Episode 1 of the new series! Very exciting I’m sure you’ll agree. Stay tuned for weekly episodes released every Monday! All that’s left to see is how my friendship with Sam and Edd will recover from the various stresses of getting to this point.
So after some very late nights and strained emotions, we were in a position to say that all 6 episodes of Series 2 of Rich Keeble Vanity Project were picture locked with grade and sound mixing to follow. Prior to that moment of (temporary) relief however, we optimistically released the above trailer which has a release date of 4th July on it. So we have to stick to it! You hear me? 4th July. Watch this space! (please)

So here’s the first online advert for Love Island that I recorded for ITV the other week. You’d never guess that I did the main VO and the voice of the Small Talkulator itself would you?!
